“Cant get respect until your people know that you can sit in their chair and do what they do.”
-Adam Arevalo
Adam is one of the best managers I’ve ever worked with. Even better than that, he is one of the best people I’ve ever worked with! I met him when I was a team member at Wells Fargo. He taught me in the business world, that you put your team before yourself. He made sacrifices for his team members and would defend them to the death during shut door meetings. I made a vow that I would mirror the way he leads if given the opportunity.
Your testimony is your legacy. Adam poured into me a servant leadership style of management. In return I have done the same and have mentored team members into servant leadership roles like he did with me. My prayer is that they do the same for the next generation. That’s legacy.
It’s all about speaking life. It’s all about investing in the lives of people. That’s why I lead a weekly youth outreach. That’s why I write blog posts. That’s why I take leadership roles for work. That’s why I try to share my passion of Jesus on every platform available. I am far from perfect, very far! I still have a lot more I need to do. But I will take what I know and invest in people, and ask God to multiply it way beyond what I can share. My prayer is that they will see Jesus in everything I do, and it adds to the tapestry of their testimony.
I thank God for leaders like Adam. Be the Adam in your circles today. Invest, reach, mentor, and be transparent while doing it. That’s how lives change! Can you imagine how that could change the world? May God give us more opportunities this week.
