Some of my biggest leaders and influencers have always talked and preached about legacy. I have always thought that legacy was important but as I’ve gotten older it’s everything. Literally, I find myself talking to my kids, my youth group, and my employees at the office about legacy all the time.
I’m not building a legacy for my namesake. In fact, it’s the opposite. I am building legacies in people. I want to make a splash in as many people lives as I can. My thought is every time I can encourage, inspire, equip, and witness to you…then maybe I have created a new ripple in your legacy to help encourage, inspire, equip, and witness to your circles of people to impact their legacies and yours. I want to show people that they have a legacy to impact future generations.
Take my son throwing a rock into the water as an example. That one action, caused a ripple effect that spread across the waters top for everyone to see. What he didn’t think about was the fact that the rock also changed the landscape underneath to the ponds bottom. We will see the ripple effect and the splash instantly but we don’t see the long term effects of the new rock at the bottom of the pond. That rock could become a haven for a turtle, algae plate for fish, or cover for a minnow.
My prayer is that I’m encouraging you to create legacies that are bigger than just fast splashes and large ripples in peoples lives. Instead, may it run deeper than I can never imagine or even know!
