I’m scared for Grace. We live in a world where we look in the mirror and don’t see the beauty in what God has created.

I literally think about this every day for her. I see her as a beautiful angel. My heart melts the moment she smiles at me and reaches out to hug me. Every morning, I always sing “My Grace” which is extremely familiar to “My Girl”. Afterwards I pick her up and we look in the mirror. I tell her, “Grace you are beautiful. You are smart. You are strong. God loves you and has a big purpose for your life”. I do that when I’m laying her down in her crib at night as well. She usually has a huge smile and gives me a hug afterwards.

I want to her know this. I cannot begin to tell you how many young ladies my wife and I have worked with that don’t know this truth. The world is cruel and whispers fear, guilt, and intimidation into young ladies spirits that we’ve worked with for more than 20yrs.

Add #cysticfibrosis to the mix and that only compounds the enemy lies.

I found these verses that I will share with Grace in the morning:

13 Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out; you formed me in my mother’s womb. 14 I thank you, High God – you’re breathtaking! Body and soul, I am marvelously made! I worship in adoration – what a creation! 15 You know me inside and out, you know every bone in my body; You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit, how I was sculpted from nothing into something. 16 Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth; all the stages of my life were spread out before you, The days of my life were all prepared before I’d even lived one day. Psalm 139

If you’ve been struggling and feeling you don’t measure up, re-read the verses above. Take out “you” and put in your name. Grace if you are reading this as a teenager, know God sculpted you. He doesn’t make mistakes.

The same goes for you, as well as myself. Get that God loves you and that He knit you together. He is madly in line with us. Wait on the Lord and hear how much He cares. The creator of not just you, but the galaxies wants to have a conversation with you. That blows my mind to be honest with you, but it’s truth. Let the space between you and God ware thin! He loves you and wants to remind you of that truth.

Here are staggering facts from 2017:

A child was born into poverty every 41 seconds.

Over 12.8 million children in America were living in poverty.

5.9 million children lived in extreme poverty (meaning annual household income for four was at or under $12,547).

Texas had 20.9% of its’ children living in poverty.

Those are some stats that cannot be ignored. Isaiah 58:7 says, “What I’m interested in seeing you do is: sharing your food with the hungry, inviting the homeless poor into your homes, putting clothes on the shivering ill-clad, being available to your own families.“

My wife and I make a priority to help low income students and we are raising our kids to do the same. These numbers keep me awake at night when I think about kids and teenagers.

I am not telling you to change your lifestyle or sell all of your possessions, but I am asking you to pray about it. Have a family meeting with your significant other and your kids. Discuss what your family can do this Christmas to help a child. It might mean one less stop at Starbucks or one less video game under the tree, but imagine the impact you could make. Speak life to your neighbors. Dare to dream and live the vision that you were called to live.

Bullying is real. What do you tell your 5yr old son when he tells you that he had a bad day because they called him piggy.

They were playing football at the school and he made a bad pass, which caused the bullying.

I wiped tears off his face and told him they were crazy. I reminded him that there is only one Levi Bridges in the world. I reminded him that God created him so unique and special. I got him to flex and I talked about his muscles from all the milk he “hydrates” with for muscles. I pointed to his brain and asked what 1+1= equals…he giggled and said 2. I was like SEE, Einstein who?! I reminded him he’s got moves like Jagger and swag like Tobymac. He smiled again.

But then I got serious and looked him in the eyes and told him: it doesn’t matter what anybody else says or thinks…His Daddy in Heaven and his daddy on earth are very proud and that matters more than any school yard bully trying to gain acceptance by trash talking. God I hope that truth got prime real estate in his spirit tonight.

During bed time I read the Crucifixion story and emphasized Jesus asking God to forgive the ones persecuting and mocking him. I looked at Levi and told him that’s what real men do. He smiled and said “ok I’ll try” then drifted asleep.

That broke my heart. Then four hours later I was thinking about how much I want that too. I want everyone to like me. When someone doesn’t it keeps me up at night. Literally I want to people to be happy with me. I have to remind myself that if I made Daddy proud (Daddy being God) today then that’s better than any superficial reward or recognition.

God help my unbelief. God help me to see what you see in me. Quiet the bullies in my life, at least make their voices a whisper. Help me share the truth to everyone I come in contact with, including you the reader. If you are reading this, know that He has a plan and purpose that only you are equipped to do. Don’t listen to the voices that makes the truth foggy, instead listen to what He is telling you! He has called us His own.

Let that simmer inside for a minute!

I found this dead bush sitting beside me. What caught my eye is the smaller green bush growing underneath it. See the picture and see if you see it!

I called everyone back together and showed them the little green bush underneath the huge dead one. I was so excited. Truthfully, I’m getting excited again typing!

Right now it doesn’t look great in the waiting for that little green bush. That idea…that seed…that small plant is growing but it is over shadowed by the dead one hovering over it. How often does that happen with us? We get intimidated by our circumstances. God I feel like I need to do this….but how, are you sure, I mean it could happen right? It’s to much, etc.

No. That is so wrong. If God said it, it will happen. So this just means that you have to wait. Trust God. Water that plant, that idea that He gave you. Wait. Wait for Him to make a way! Stay diligent and lean on Him for understanding.

I told the teens if we got in a plane and flew over this mountainside we would never see it. That doesn’t mean it’s not there. In fact it might be hard to see it in this picture! That doesn’t mean it’s not there. It is just in the growing and waiting stage.

The waiting could last for 1 day, 20yrs, or more. Moses had wait before the Israelites were free. Noah had to wait and built the ark before the flood. David was told he was to be King but waited to grow up. Joseph had to wait in jail before becoming a high ranking official. They key with them and for us is hear His voice and stay diligent in serving Him.

While you wait speak life. Dare to dream and Live the vision!
