Our House Got Sold!
It happened. We sold our home today!
Today I packed the last tote from the garage.
I swept the last fruit loop from Grace’s high chair area.
I packed up Josiah’s billizion basketball and footballs from the backyard.
I told Levi that his first room was really cool but encouraged him that his next room will be cooler. He smiled and was so pumped.
I walked to my granddaddy’s tree and literally said good bye (we planted a seedling from the original 5yrs ago and now it’s huge).
The house holds a lot of memories. One of my favorites moments was on the back porch 3yrsd when my wife, Annie, let me know we were going to have another baby (named her Grace!). I remember where I was watering the grass and the tree. I remember the breeze in the air. I remember holding Annie and reminding her that God wanted to surprise us, but I was just as nervous myself! Great memories there.
I also know, no matter how great the past was, it’s the past. We are so blessed tonight to be in an Airbnb and meeting with our realtor tomorrow. She asked if we were ready, and we quickly replied “yes ma’am” with no hesitation. I cannot wait for the next set of memories in our new home that is waiting for us! Getting the kids ready for school, hosting leadership parties, prom pictures, youth group meetings, neighborhood events, basketball tourneys, madden re-enactments in the backyard, super bowl events, watering my plants, and future yard work the boys. And a sip of wine with my wife on the back porch on a cool November evening! It’s going to be awesome making new memories.
The very last thing we did at Lion King today was to bless a youth in our community. He is a recent high school graduate that is trying to make it and doing it alone. He loves to grill but doesn’t have one. My wife and I told him to take ours and bless his community with his own burgers and ribs. As we were loading it into his truck, I could still smell Annie’s famous ribs that she would make on that grill. I looked him in the eyes and told him to create his own famous food and bless someone with it. “Yes sir” followed by a huge smile. Shortly after, I got in my car and thanked God. Every home we have had, we’ve asked God to make it a ministry. It’s only fitting that’s the last thing we did on Lion King street!
We cannot live in the pass. It’s great to visit, but we always have to look towards the future. Ask God to help you dream bigger and give opportunities to help someone. Tomorrow our new house dreams begin to turn into a reality! Would you pray with us that our family, ministry, and outreach would thrive in our new home waiting to be discovered in San Antonio?
