Investing in Legacies

I love the word: legacy.

Webster Dictiobary says:

Definition of legacy (Entry 1 of 2)

1: a gift by will especially of money or other personal property : BEQUEST

2: something transmitted by or received from an ancestor or predecessor or from the past

I am trying to leave a legacy of speaking life and showing people Jesus. Last night was amazing. Most of our teens could not make our zoom meeting, but the ones that could were in for a treat. I invited my youth pastor and camp pastors from when I was a teen to join us. The discussion turned into a talk of trusting in God through crazy times and leaving a legacy while doing so.

Here’s the breakdown: my mentors left a legacy on me and affected my worldview, spiritual view, and effectively shaped me to be the leader I am today. They invested in me for over twenty years, and still do so (hey, I’m a work in progress!). Now my wife and I are investing in youth as well for the past 16yrs together. In fact I’ve been doing it since my junior year in high school! I still talk to some of the former fifth graders from 1997 and last night we were talking with seniors this year! We encouraged the youth last night to make their mark today and begin to invest in others now, to leave a legacy of their own and to keep the legacy train growing!

Because my mentors poured their legacy into me, I’ve been able to pour my legacy in ministry and the business world today. Now I’m asking people that have been in our ministry through the years and my team members in the offices that have their careers happening, to pour their legacies into their circles of influences as well.

Who are you pouring and investing into today? You may not see the impact but that’s ok…oak trees start with a seed planted into the ground! Years later, that seed turns into tree and drops more seeds for the next generation
