“….Separated, you can’t produce a thing…..”
John 15:8
I challenged our teens to spend extra time with God during the quarantine. Some of them did it and it’s been amazing. They picked out a devotional from the Bible App, sent invites, and completed day one. What’s been great about it is, we each read a section and then write out our takeaways. I gained a lot of insight by reading their interpretation tonight and hopefully I will encourage them as well!
Day one talked about the vine found in John 15. Highly recommend you doing this with people you care about but having to keep a distance with. Here is what I wrote for them to read for my portion of Day One:
This got me. How often do I feel separated?! This whole quarantine thing freaks me out and I hate being separated from people. I like people! I like large crowds. I like speaking in front of a large crowd. I love cheering for a team in a large crowd. I love hosting parties! I love leading workshops and leadership retreats. Tuesday youth is one of my favorite parts of my week. But when you are separated from everyone…you are alone.
That’s what great about us video conferencing each other, doing the devotional together, and reading each other’s comments. We aren’t physically all together but we are not separated! We are still having community. When we are separated from each other, we lose touch and forget each other’s quirks and personalities. It’s the same with our Daddy. If I don’t spend time with my Daddy (God), I will forget His voice, His promises, His love, and my calling.
I don’t want to separated from Him or from you!
