Speak Life…Virtually!
Tonight was different. We’ve been in contact with our outreach group since the Coronavirus took a turn in America last week. Since then we have been texting and calling everyone to make sure they are doing good.
Because we want to be smart and we want the best for our kids and our youth group kids, we did not meet in person. But we did meet through the google app. Before that, we dropped off a dinner to one of our youth who was celebrating is birthday at home. We stayed in the car and passed it to him, again being very careful…but speaking life in a season of uncertainty.
The hour on the phone was spent talking laughing, crying, sharing the high and lows, the fears, possible quarantining for months, the media, and everything else. This was so precious to my wife and I. It reminded me of Matthew 18:18-20: ““Take this most seriously: A yes on earth is yes in heaven; a no on earth is no in heaven. What you say to one another is eternal. I mean this. When two of you get together on anything at all on earth and make a prayer of it, my Father in heaven goes into action. And when two or three of you are together because of me, you can be sure that I’ll be there.””
Matthew 18:18-20 MSG
That’s why it is so important to speak life to people. I told the teens that we are there for them at any time of the day or night if they need to talk. So my message today is get creative. How can you encourage today? Specifically, how can you help the younger generation that is missing their prom, senior year, and last competitions?
Even darker…some of these kids depend on school lunches as their meal for the day. In fact a lot of them do. That’s gone. Others don’t have internet but are told they can take classes online. They can’t.
Find a friend and encourage them today. Get creative on how you can help them and help the community together. We talk about how people saw God move when they worked together in the Bible. Now is your chance. Be the church!
