COVID-19, CF, & the Bible
Evidence has shown that people with underlying health conditions, including lung disease, seem to be at greater risk of serious illness from COVID-19. –CFF.org
I have been watching the news and reading updates from the CDC lately and been praying. I am not allowing fear to creep in but instead I am looking at being prepared. I look at people rushing to get water and other supplies at stories and they are so scared.
As a dad of two cystic fibrosis kids, I am more concerned for them than myself. I did go out today and got extra food, water, and meds just in case. If there is an outbreak in San Antonio, I want to limit my times at going to HEB because I don’t want to bring anything home to them. I am sure there will be widespread panic as well.
When I allow my mind to slip into the dark thoughts wondering what the COVID-19 would do inside their already fragile lungs: the breathing, the coughing, the intense hospital stays, the added difficulties with even more isolation for them, and other thoughts that I won’t write about…I go back to what God says in Hebrews 13:5, “…Since God assured us, ‘I’ll never let you down, never walk off and leave you,’ we can boldly quote, God is there, ready to help; I’m fearless no matter what. Who or what can get to me?”.
So according to that verse, God is on our side through COVID-19 and everything else that may be in our path. He is with us no matter what! We will be smart about it and we will put our trust in His assurance! Instead of living in fear, we should live in that assurance!
I am…Will you?
