Daddy Day!
Today I had the honor of having a daddy day with my lil’ Grace. We did two breathing treatments, balloon fights, rode a train, fed some ducks, had lunch, and she was by my side while I preached. Her new thing is to say “I love you” and then she matches the tone I use back to her. We did it for twenty minutes straight…and I loved every minute of it!
I’m really trying to pour into her as much as I can. In my twenty plus years of ministry, it seems like the culprit of so many issues spawns from dads not paying enough attention to their daughters. This will not be the case with Grace!
“Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.”
1 Peter 3:3-4
There’s not a day that goes by that I do not remind Grace that God made her smart, beautiful, and special. I want her to know she is “great worth in God’s sight” that verse four says above. As a dad it’s my duty to tell her what I think of her, but it’s also what her Daddy in Heaven says.
That’s why I have daddy day’s with her and my boys. When is the last time you had a daddy date or mommy date with your children? We have to invest in them and show them what it means to be loved. When you get a day off, use it to invest in their legacies!
